the Diocese -
what
can Mission and Unity offer?
Growing Healthy Churches (church audit)
This can be run in more than one way:
• GHC: using the 7 marks of a healthy church to discovering the strengths
and weakness of the local church and making realistic plans for the future.
• GHC Angel day looking at the present health of the church and the vocation
of the church. This is a more spiritual and intuitive way of achieving the same
purpose.
• An Angel day can also be used to jump-start the GHC process when it has
stopped, or it can be used after 3 – 4 years as part of a review process.
• Review forms for GHC are available from Rev Carol Kitchener
Mission Weekends (local mission events)
Training is available for parishes wishing to run a MW using the programme
designed by the Archbishop’s ‘Springboard’ team. Parishes
running a MW can receive support and help from the diocesan evangelists.
Parish Development days (whole churches, PCC, MLT)
These can be planned and run to fit the requirements of the local church, the
person leading the day will meet with the vicar and make appropriate plans.
Mission-Shaped Church days
MSC days include a presentation on the content of the MSC report and can include
an opportunity to think about, or plan a fresh expression of church in the
parish. The person leading the day would meet with the vicar and make plans
appropriate to the local church.
Faith Sharing days
Training is available to help congregation members to share their faith, by
telling the story about what God has done for them.
Pioneer Ministers
Mindful of the recent guidelines about Pioneer Ministers the department will
be available to work with groups of churches seeking to appoint Pioneer Ministers.
Where they are already in place, the department can offer help to evaluate
their effectiveness and make plans for future growth.
The Canon Missioner the Rev Jean Kerr is
available to leading training and development days.
